2003 | Donna Cockrel receives $70,000 settlement from Shelby Count Schools

On July 30, 2003 a U.S. District Court in Frankfort, Kentucky awarded Donna Cockrel a $70,000 settlement from the Shelby County School District to resolve the lawsuit she filed in 1997. Cockrel claimed to be wrongfully fired for promoting the legalization of hemp, and having Woody Harrelson speak to her 5th grade class about the controversial topic.
